Julia

Julia is the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator with the School of Business and Tourism at Southern Cross University, Australia. The WIL team, of which Julia has been a part for many years, was awarded an Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation for pioneering and sustaining student-centred, transformative, work-enriched experiential learning opportunities in tourism and hospitality management. With a long-term interest in student development, Julia is currently completing a PhD, which examines the current role and further potential of WIL in fostering tourism students’ self-authorship development. Julia holds a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (Teaching and Learning) in addition to tourism and nursing degrees. Prior to academia, Julia facilitated experiential learning for university students as a workplace supervisor and preceptor whilst in tourism and nursing positions.
