Biography

Joseph Williams is an early career musicologist and ethnomusicologist, who graduated from his PhD at Western Sydney University in April 2020. He began lecturing in musicology at WSU in 2015, and has taught third-year students in Music Careers Research since 2016, independently coordinating the unit in 2019 and 2020. He is the author of the forthcoming Routledge monograph, England's Folk Revival and the Problem of Identity in Traditional Music, and his peer-reviewed research has been published in high quality international journals, such as the Journal of Musicological Research, and in the 2016 Ashgate volume Music's Immanent Future (Sally Macarthur, Judith Lochead and Jennifer Shaw, eds.).
