Theoretical Framework
The resources and self-assessment of perceived employability are grounded in social cognitive careers theory (SCCT) and underpinned by a validated measure (Bennett & Ananthram, 2021). Social cognitive careers theories are an extension of Alfred Bandura’s social cognitive theory. SCCT is an established theoretical framework for studies relating to employability, perceived employability, career choice and performance. SCCT acknowledges the social construction of career identity, the influences of proximal and distal factors, and the role of psychological capital. The self-assessment covers multiple domains of perceived employability and integrates several established scales.
Employ-ability Research
The employ-ability dataset provides opportunities to enhance career development in post-secondary education by better understanding student thinking and confidence. Students decide whether to include their response and all responses are anonymised; ethical approvals are obtained by each participating institution. You can explore the research and download or request copies of all Employ-ability research articles via ResearchGate.
